Vidya Vikas Kendra is a rural school started in 1994 by Jayanagara Sthree Samaja Trust in Gerupalya village, 22 km from South Bangalore, as part of a literacy campaign. It provides free quality education from nursery to matriculation to nearly 600 children from Gerupalya and surrounding villages. The school is totally unaided and privately managed through donations from NGOs and philanthropists.
